VAMLE is embarking on expanding support services for professional development and resource information for the all the adults that work with 10-14 year old students. We are partners in this endeavor with NELMS (The New England League of Middle Schools), the VT Middle Grades Professional Development Collaborative (state colleges with middle grade education programs), the VT Principal's Association, and the VT Department of Education.

* High Quality On-site professional development (training at your school, with your teachers), designed to meet the unique special middle level needs of your school, at reasonable rates, is now available by

* Reduced rates at VAMLE/NELMS conferences/events for any of your 5 or 10 staff members, throughout the coming year, including:

* Tri-State Conference

* Many of NELMS events including the Annual Conference in Providence RI

* The Scholar Leader Banquet provides your school an opportunity to honor outstanding students for leadership and academics, held in early June at Norwich University's Plumley Auditorium

* Recognition - Your school can submit nominations for outstanding teachers or teams doing the work of VAMLE's mission, to receive the VAMLE Middle Matters Recognition Award.

School Membership:
Any school which serves 10 – 14 year old children is invited to become a school member of VAMLE.
  • Membership entitles a school:
 any number of faculty/staff to attend VAMLE functions at a reduced rate,
 to receive 5 or 10 complimentary copies of Middle School is Not a Building,
 to receive special rates for Professional Development opportunities, including those designed specifically for implementation of Middle School Is Not a Building.
 to be eligible for the 09-10 Mini-grant process for VT’s Young Adolescent Promise,
 to participate in the Scholar Leader Banquet at a reduced rate,
 to submit teacher or team application for the Middle Matters Award.
In addition all school members receive a quarterly electronic copy of VAMLEGram and with research or professional documents helpful in reaching the multiple needs of early adolescent youngsters.
